Introduction

This document provides information on the syntax for ASCII data files that can be read and written by the QMW Science Analysis System, QSAS. These formats are particular to QSAS and are described fully here, and this document provides configuration control for these standards.

The software utility Qtran will translate between these formats and the ISTP/CSDS standard cdf format. These ascii standards also provide convenient formats which can easily be generated or read by other systems.

Other file formats are understood by QSAS, but are maintained under configuration control outside of the UK CDHF. These are itemised below:

cdf
CDF version 2 up to release 6, defined in CDF User's Guide, NSSDC, Goddard Space Flight Centre. The CSDS specific useage is recommended, ``Reference Document for CSDS CDF Implementation'', DS-QMW-TN-0003 and ``Structure of Generic CSDS Standard CDF Files'', DS-QMW-TN-0008, but most other cdf files are handled.
TBD
Other standard file formats are to be added
