Postgraduate Teaching in the Space and Atmospheric Physics Group
Imperial College London
2019/2020

During the first term of each academic year we run a course of postgraduate (PG) lectures within the group. This PG teaching is designed to give our students a better grasp of the various research themes in which we are active, including a clear grasp of the key underlying physics. Attendance of these sessions is compulsory for all new PhD students, and we welcome visiting students from our collaborator departments and institutions.

During consecutive weeks in the first term, one or more members of academic staff will lecture on a given topic, or family of topics. Unless otherwise stated, on the Monday and on the Tuesday there will be a lecture between 14:00 and 15:00 in room 711c of the Huxley Building. The lecturer(s) will then set some form of assessment (e.g., they may provide a list of questions to consider), and on each Friday there will be a problem-solving session, also nominally between 14:00 and 15:00 in H711c. Attendance will be recorded for all sessions, with no distinction between "space" and "atmospheric" students.

Other members of the group are welcome to join any of the sessions. Please contact me (Adam Masters) if you are (or represent) an external student who would be interested in joining as well. I will send regular emails to the student cohort as the term progresses, and this webpage will be kept up to date with course information and resources.

Below is the full PG teaching timetable. Please check this schedule each week, as arrangements differ from the norm on some weeks. If you have any questions please feel free to email me (Adam Masters)
