BOOM DEPLOYMENT - FGM

The animation below shows the deployment of the Cassini Magnetometer Boom as seen by our fluxgate magnetometer (FGM). The FGM is attached to the inner half of the boom and deployed out to a distance of 5.5m within approximately 30 seconds. Once the inner half deployment was complete, deployment of the outer half (to which the vector helium magnetometer (VHM) is attached) started. An animation of the deployment as seen by the VHM may be found here.
