You are in Hardware: RedHat Linux Servers

This page contains a list of the Linux Servers that are currently available to the Group members. However, there are certain restrictions to accessing these as some are dedicated to specific project work and are in continual use. All Linux servers are running Oracle Enterprise Linux 7 (64bit).

NOTE: You should contact spathelp@imperial.ac.uk if you are unsure whether you should access any of these systems.

RAID Levels:
[0] No disk redundancy (highest performance, 100% storage efficiency)
[1] Each disk is "mirrored" (good read/write performance, 50% storage efficiency)
[5] Array can tolerate a single disk failure (good read performance, 75% efficiency in 4 disk array)
[6] Array can tolerate two disk failures (good read performance, 75% efficiency in 8 disk array)
[0+1] Combination of RAID0 and RAID1 (highest performance, 50% storage efficiency)
A more detailed explanation of the various RAID levels can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAID

IMPORTANT NOTE: At present, only wrfstore:/disk1 is backed up (to wrfstore2:/backup1). All other disks are not backed up, but rely on the RAID technology to limit risk of data loss. However, critical data should not only be kept on these systems. If you have extremely important data, you should make sure that a copy is also kept elsewhere. Currently we do not have the resources to make backups of these data.
